Monitoring Platform Upgrade 3.0

We have finished upgrading our monitoring platform to version 3.0: Our geographically dislocated monitoring stations are now fully able to monitor services in the Cloud and more advanced and complex services like SAP-systems and SAP-performance. Customers will benefit from the new features with more advanced uptime reports, public status pages for customers and high level application monitoring, both for IPv4 and IPv6 enabled service and on a “cloud-ready” platform.

Abbiamo aggiornato la nostra piattaforma di monitoraggio alla versione 3.0: Le nostre stazioni di monitoraggio geograficamente dislocate ora offrono pieno supporto per servizi “Cloud” e possono monitorare anche servizi avanzati e complessi come sistemi SAP e la performance di sistemi SAP. Il vantaggio per i clienti sono bollettini e relazioni piu’ avanzate sull’uptime e la disponibilita’ di sistema e di servizi, pagine di status pubbliche disponibili anche per i clienti ed il monitoraggio a livello alti di singole applicazione web o remote, sia su IPv4 che su IPv6 ed il tutto su di una piattaforma “cloud-ready”.

VPS Maintenance

All Windows & Linux Virtual Private Servers will be rebooted starting 18.00 CET to install important security-patches and to update the storage-subsystem; there will be a short downtime.

Tutti i server virtuali Linux e Windows verranno riavviati a partire dalle ore 18 CET per installare importanti patches di sicurezza ed aggiornare il sottosistema storage, questo comportera’ un breve downtime durante il riavvio dei sistemi.

Sämtliche Windows- und Linux-Virtual-Private-Servers werden ab 18 Uhr MEZ neu gestartet, um wichtige Sicherheits-Patches einzuspielen und das Storage-Subsystem zu aktualisieren; dabei wird es zu kurzfristigen Downtimes während des Neustarts der Systeme kommen.

backup5 maintenance

We are performing maintenance on the backup server no. 5 (“backup5″) and backup-services on this server will be unavailable intermittently, normal operations will resume after testing – no data is being affected, backup-operations are redirected to the other storage-infrastructure.

Stiamo svolgendo lavori di aggiornamento sul server di backup numero 5 (“backup5″) ed i servizi di backup su di questo server non sono disponibili. I dati stessi non sono coinvolti, e le operazioni di backup vengono inoltrate verso la restante infrastruttura storage.

Wir führen gerade Wartungsarbeiten am Backup-Server Nr. 5 (“backup5″) durch und die Backup-Dienste auf diesem Server sind derzeit nicht verfügbar. Die Daten selbst sind nicht betroffen, die Backup-Operationen werden zwischenzeitlich auf die restliche Storage-Infrastruktur umgeleitet.

.TEL domains Lockdown period reduction

Dear Customers

In response to registrar and .tel community feedback Telnic will be reducing the lockdown period that currently applies to domain names which are in a pending delete state where the redemption grace period (RGP) has expired. Currently, names in this state are subject to a 60 day non restorable lockdown before being made available for re-registration. This non restorable period will be reduced to 5 days as a result of this change.

Domains are dropped once per day starting at 18:30:00 UTC using a batch process. Following this change, domains will be dropped if they have been in RGP for a full 30 days and have been in non restorable lockdown for a further 5 days. The first batch release of domains pursuant to the shortened lockdown period rule will occur on April 14th. There is no change to the duration of the RGP for deleted names which remains 30 days.

FAQs
Q: Will .tel domain names resolve in the DNS during the redemption grace period?
A: No, once a domain has entered a pending delete state, it will not resolve in the DNS.

Q: Will WHOIS continue to be published during the 30 day redemption grace period and the 5 day non restorable lockdown period?
A: Yes, WHOIS will continue to be published.

Q: Does Telnic intend to publish drop lists for names which become available for re registration?
A: Telnic is currently reviewing the timing and format of this kind of report.

Q: How soon after deletion will a name become available for re registration?
A: A deleted name will become available for re registration 36 days after the name was deleted unless the name is restored during the RGP.

Q: Does this rule only apply to domain names that enter the RGP after April 13th?
A: No, any domain name where both RGP and Non restorable period have expired on 13th April will be released in the scheduled drop on April 14th.

Q: Why is Telnic making this change to the lockdown period?
A: Telnic is responding to registrar and .tel community feedback that has indicated that a 60 day lockdown period is too long.

EURID maintenance

The EPP server, Registrar Extranet, DAS and WHOIS services (registrar and public) of EURID (the .eu domain registry) will be unavailable for approximately 45 minutes between 05:00 CET and 06:00 CET MARCH 10th 2010 (tomorrow). Normal operations will resume by 07:00 CET, after testing.

We apologise for any inconvenience these necessary maintenance procedures may cause.

VPS reboot

All Windows & Linux Virtual Private Servers will be rebooted within the next minutes to install a security-patch, there will be a short downtime.

Tutte i server virtuali Linux e Windows verranno riavviati nei prossimi minuti per installare una importante patch di sicurezza, questo comporta un breve downtime durante il riavvio dei sistemi.

UPDATE: All virtual private servers up&running again, downtime was 3 to 6 minutes per VPS during reboot procedure.

10 ports down @DC1

We currently have 10 switchports done @DC1, investigating ETA: 1 hour

10 switchports down nel datacenter #1, stiamo analizzando il problema, stima tempistiche: 1 ora

UPDATE:
Switchports restored, but currently experiencing problem with PDU in datacenter. Level3 (operator of the datacenter) field OPs are there to solve the issue.

UPDATE2:
Ackermann conductor rail defect, currently replacing.

UPDATE3:
All services and servers up & running again.

Core Router DC#2

Today at 16:28 CET a defect linecard in the core router of the second datacenter (DC#2) first caused latency (high ping-times) and after complete failure a downtime of connectivity for some servers and services. We replaced the linecard and all services, incl. BGP-peerings, were up again working at 17:31 CET. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Questo pomeriggio alle ore 16:28 una linecard difettosa del core-router nel secondo datacenter (DC#2) ha causato latenza (pings alti) e di seguito un downtime della connettivita’ per alcuni server e servizi. Abbiamo provveduto a rimpiazzare la linecard difettosa e tutti i servizi, incluse le sessioni BGP coinvolte, erano di nuovo attivi a partire dalle ore 17:31. Ci scusiamo per gli eventuali disagi.

Heute ab 16:28 Uhr gab es Probleme aufgrund einer defekten Linecard im Core-Router des zweiten Rechenzentrums (DC#2), die zuerst zu Latenzen (hohe Ping-Zeiten) und anschließend zu einem Ausfall der Internet-Anbindung für einige Server und Dienstleistungen führte. Wir haben die defekte Linecard ausgetauscht und alle Dienste, inkl. die BGP-Anbindung, funktioniert ab 17:31 Uhr wieder einwandfrei. Wir bitten vielmals um Entschuldigung für die evt. Unannehmlichkeiten.
