we include inline a message from the Italian Competition Authorities (http://www.agcm.it) and the Registration Authority for .IT-domains regarding misleading messages from the “Registro italiano in Internet per le imprese”:

we would like to inform you once again a great deal of users notices are
arriving at the Registry: the users have received some letters from another
entity, the so-called “Registro italiano in Internet per le imprese”, which,
through surface-mail mailings, (seemingly to ask the verifications of the data
dealing with user activities) proposes a contract to adhere to in order to
receive a service after payment.

The Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the CNR and the ccTLD .it
Registry are not in the least involved with this initiative and have prepared
again the necessary actions to protect any rights that might have been infringed.

The Italian Competition Authorities (http://www.agcm.it) has repeatedly issued
fines – for analogous initiatives as case in point of misleading messages -
against DAD Deutscher Adressdienst.

We therefore suggest you to assume the diligent responsibility of informing
your clients and giving them adequate information in this regard.

riportiamo stralcio di un messaggio ufficiale ricevuto da parte del “Registro del ccTLD .it” (il “NIC” di Pisa per la registrazione di domini .IT – l’Authority per la registrazione di domini .IT!) riguardante l’ennesima pubblicita’ ingannevole da parte del “Registro italiano in Internet per le imprese”:

Vi informiamo che, ancora una volta, ci giungono numerose segnalazioni di
utenti che hanno ricevuto lettere da un sedicente “Registro italiano in
Internet per le imprese” tramite le quali si chiede, apparentemente, la
verifica dei dati relativi alla propria attivita’: i moduli sono in realta’
una proposta di contratto per adesione per la fornitura di un servizio a
pagamento.

L’Istituto di Informatica e Telematica del Cnr e il Registro del ccTLD.it sono
del tutto estranei a tale iniziativa e avvieranno, ancora una volta, le azioni
necessarie per la tutela dell’eventuale diritto leso.

L’Autorita’ garante della concorrenza e del mercato (http://www.agcm.it) ha
piu’ volte sanzionato analoghe iniziative in quanto fattispecie di pubblicita’
ingannevole.

Vi raccomandiamo quindi di farvi parte diligente nei confronti dei vostri
clienti, fornendo adeguata informazione in merito.
