Probleme im Backbone von Level3

Sehr geehrte Kundin,
sehr geehrter Kunde,

seit gestern 20:40 Uhr lokaler Zeit beobachten wir Störungen im Backbone von Level 3. Nach derzeitigem Wissenstand sind davon zumindest diverse Verbindungen innerhalb Deutschlands betroffen. Als Folge dessen sind auch diverse Peerings zu anderen Providern betroffen die über Level 3 geroutet werden.

Es wird zwar mit Hochdruck an der Lösung des Problems gearbeitet, aber leider ist es Level 3 bisher noch nicht gelungen die genaue Ursache des Problems festzustellen. Soweit wir das nachvollziehen können funktionieren alle netzinternen Verbindungen wieder seit etwa 06:15 Uhr heute morgen.
Derzeit existieren leider immer noch massive Verbindungsprobleme zu Teilen des Telekom-Netzes an denen weiterhin mit Hochdruck gearbeitet wird; auch haben wir unsere Backup-Leitungen aktiviert und wenn möglich das Routing auf diese Leitungen umgestellt, d.h. die Server sind derzeit von den Netzen der Telecom Italia, der Deutschen Telekom und der British Telecom allesamt erreichbar.

Wie gehabt werden wir Sie informieren sobald es Neuigkeiten bzw. ein Lösung hierzu gibt. Sollten Sie immer noch Probleme feststellen, so bitten wir Sie, ein Traceroute von Ihrem aktuellen Provider an support@server24.it zu schicken, damit wir das Routing verbessern können.

Problemi nel backbone di Level3

Gentile cliente,

a partire da ieri dalle ore 20:40 CEST rileviamo problemi nel backbone del nostro carrier principale Level3. Da quanto abbiamo potuto verificare erano coinvolte varie connessioni in Italia, Germania ed Inghilterra. A causa di questo, vari peerings con altri providers per i quali il routing avviene tramite Level3 erano coinvolti.

Abbiamo provveduto subito ad attivare le nostre altre linee di backup e modificato il routing in modo tale che tutti i servers siano perfettamente raggiungibili dalla rete Telecom Italia, Deutsche Telekom e British Telecom.
Level3 sta lavorando intensivamente per risolvere il problema, ma finora purtroppo la causa esatta del problema non e’ nota; abbiamo il sospetto che si tratti di un problema grave nella rete MPLS del backbone oppure di un problema software dei routers Juniper e/o Cisco. Le connessioni di rete interna sembrano funzionare di nuovo dalle ore 06:15 CEST, ma rileviamo tuttora massiccie perdite di pacchetti in alcune parti della rete.

Non appena ci sono novita’ e aggiornamenti a riguardo provvederemo ad informarLa tempestivamente.

Se riscontrate tuttora problemi di connettivita’ verso il Vs server, siete pregati di inviare un tracciato (traceroute) dalla Vs locazione verso il Vs server a support@server24.it, in modo da poter cambiare il routing in modo tale che la connettivita’ venga migliorata. Le nostre due linee di emergenza funzionano perfettamente e quindi abbiamo un po’ di margine per ovviare a problemi anche senza dipendere da Level3.

Level3 backbone problems

we have registering malfunctions in the Level 3 Backbone since about yesterday, 20:40 local time (CEST) that affect various connections at least in Germany and consequential various peering connections to other providers that are routed via Level 3.

Unfortunately the root cause of the problem is not identified yet, but since about 06:15 am local time (CEST) internal connections look to be working without loss again.
At the moment we are still having massive packet loss to some parts of the DTAG network. Level 3 technicians are still working on this issue, but by activating our backup-lines we were able to stabilize the routing to Telecom Italia, Deutsche Telekom and British Telecom. Should you still encounter routing-problems, please send a traceroute from your location to support@server24.co.uk.
